Soccor Field, Botwood
The open map records this only as "Soccor Field". If it has a real name — and around here it usually does, often somebody's — that is worth fixing, for every app and not just this page.
Eating, from here
Everything the open map data records within fifteen minutes' drive of this door — measured by road, not in a straight line, and ordered by nothing but how long it takes to get there. Not a recommendation; see what this is not, below.

The afternoon between games
Measured stops within 45 minutes' drive of this door. Each is a place this site has already measured on a route, with its coordinate sourced and its reason written — ordered by how long it takes to get here from, and by nothing else.
The seasons do not line up. Hockey runs roughly October to April and a good many of these keep a summer season — parks, lighthouses and interpretation centres above all. We do not hold opening seasons as data, so nothing here is filtered by month: open the stop's own page for what it says, and ring ahead in winter.

What we do not know about this place
None of the following is in any open dataset, and every one of them decides whether somebody makes the trip. If you know, tell us and it goes on the page with the date you told us — credited as local knowledge, not by name. We do not put contributors' names on venue facts:
- Are the stands heated? The single most asked question about a Newfoundland rink in February, and it is published nowhere.
- Accessibility Level entry, an accessible washroom, somewhere a wheelchair can actually watch from, and how far the parking is.
- Seating How many, and benches or buckets.
- Canteen Whether there is one, and whether it is cash only.
- The story Who built it, what it replaced, whose name is on it and why. Every rink on this island has one and almost none of them are written down.
- Whether we have the town right. It is derived from the nearest settlement on the open map, not from a source that says so — and around a bay that is exactly the kind of thing a map gets wrong and a local gets right.
That opens an email with 6 questions already in it. Answer one, delete the rest, send. One answer is a complete contribution — you do not need to know them all, and you do not have to give a name. How contributions work if you would rather read first.
Here, but not on the map
These are published by Town of Botwood. OpenStreetMap does not hold them, so this site can give you no distance, no drive time and no line on a map for any of them — only what the town itself says, and a link to it. Botwood is mapped well, and unusually so: OpenStreetMap holds the arena, the soccer pitch, two softball fields, two playgrounds, the Flying Boat Museum, the Heritage Centre, the PBY Catalina, the war memorial, a harbour-view gazebo and four named walking trails. Two things the Town publishes are missing, and that is the whole list.
Skate ParkBotwood
The Town keeps a page for it among its residents' facilities, alongside the ball fields and the playgrounds.
Not on the open map. No skate park is mapped in Botwood in OpenStreetMap. A query for every leisure value in the town on 2026-09-15 returned the arena, the pitches, two playgrounds and a park, and no skate park among them.
Town of Botwood, read 2026-09-15.
Community GardenBotwood
The Town keeps a page for a community garden, and a separate one for the Baetha statues and healing garden.
Not on the open map. No garden is mapped in Botwood in OpenStreetMap.

If you know these well enough to put them on the open map, that is the most useful thing anyone can do for this town's pages — everything here measures from what the map holds, so mapping it once fixes it for every site, not just ours.
Every year in Botwood
These recur. Where a date is shown it is either the one the organiser has published, said so, or the one the pattern puts it on, said so — and the organiser is the authority either way. Admission and times are theirs to publish and are not copied here.

Next in March. We have seen it once, which is not enough to say which day, so Town of Botwood is the only answer.
The town's winter carnival, run across venues around Botwood including the Harry Ivany Arena. The Town's own calendar carried it as 9–15 March in 2026.

The Town runs a live calendar rather than a fixed annual list, so it is linked and not mirrored. Read on 2026-09-15 it held twenty-one entries, most of them one-off notices, and nothing upcoming.

What this page is not
- Not a schedule. Ice times, field bookings and whether the season has started belong to the town's rec department. We publish none of it, because we cannot keep it true.
- Not a recommendation. The eateries are listed by drive time and nothing else. No one can pay to appear.
- Not complete. Somewhere unmapped does not appear here.
- Not open hours. We hold none, for anywhere.
Venue from OpenStreetMap, eateries from Overture Maps, drive times from OSRM. Measured 2026-09-11.
Not every entry here is confirmed. 2 of 6 here are confirmed by two independent maps agreeing to within 150 m; the rest exist in one source only, so we list them with their address but will not map-pin or navigate to a point nobody has checked. One source means exactly that — the name, the position and in one case tonight the existence of the place all rest on a single record. Adding a place to the open map is what turns one of these into the other — it takes about two minutes.
