Twenty minutes from the terminal door and the profile does something the Spout Path’s does not: it climbs almost straight off the start, from sea level to 225 m in the first third, holds the height along the top, then drops back to the water. Four hundred and twenty-seven metres of ascent in under ten kilometres, most of it spent early; the rest is cliff-top walking with the sea a long way down.
This is a wilderness path, not a park trail. The East Coast Trail Association builds and maintains it, publishes path advisories, and is the authority on whether it is passable today; unfenced cliff edge is normal here rather than exceptional. This page measures geometry and a drive. It does not rate difficulty, it does not tell you the trail is safe on the day, and it is not a substitute for the association’s own information — read theirs before you go, and take an advisory seriously when there is one.
