The number that matters here is not the summit — the trail never gets above 159 m — it is the 531 accumulated metres of up-and-down as the mapped path rides headland after headland along Salvage’s outer coast. Coastal ridge walking is exactly what the name says: you earn every lookout twice, once climbing to it and once giving it back.
The trailhead is in the village itself, at the end of the measured drive from Gander — 1h 22m door to boots. Salvage also carries a wider mapped trail NETWORK (the “Salvage Trails” system in OpenStreetMap) that branches too much for this site’s stitcher to certify as one line; this page measures the ridge line that does chain end to end, and the rest of the network is a curation ask, not a denial.
